Tender Spaces: Rubbings & Poems
May 2022 with Stove Works
Join Stove Works residents Carter Hogan & Chloé Rager for a collaborative workshop that explores the textures & poetics of everyday spaces. Using rubbings & writing techniques, we’ll investigate the relationships between memory, material, & the tender possibilities of archiving the residual. Participants will engage in generative exercises and come away with 2 original works.
The Horror of Architecture
October 2020 with The Co-Op Workshop
The call is coming from inside the house! In this 1-hr class, we'll look at the horror of the internal space in both fiction and film, write our own scenes of monstrous architecture, and ask ourselves: is the haunted house the villain, or the victim? And is that binary even remotely real? Registration for this class includes a zine of future readings, writing prompts, and resources.
I Am The Ghost
November 2018 with Surel’s Place
Surel's Place resident Carter Hogan* will teach this workshop combining writing and theater. Participants will learn how to listen and write for the characters already haunting their bodies through both writing and acting exercises. At the end of the 3 hours, workshop participants will perform for the rest of the class (and the ghosts conjured during the afternoon).
